A must-see among the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.10cose.it\/en\/budapest\/what-to-see-in-budapest\">things to see in Budapest<\/a><\/strong>, the <strong>Palace-Castle dominates the Hungarian capital<\/strong> from the top of the magnificent and romantic Buda district, which, together with Pest, gives the city its name.<\/p>\n<p>The history of the Castle is a long one: it began as a <strong>fortress in the Middle Ages<\/strong>, but it was the enlightened ruler Matthias Corvinus who turned it into <strong>a splendid Renaissance palace.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As happened with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.10cose.it\/budapest\/chiesa-mattia-budapest\"><strong>Matthias Church<\/strong><\/a>, the Royal Palace was also <strong>destroyed during the Turkish occupation<\/strong>, then <strong>rebuilt by the Habsburgs in Neo-Baroque style<\/strong> and destroyed again during the Second World War.<\/p>\n<p>After excellently serving as the \u201chome\u201d of Hungarian and Habsburg rulers, today it is a <strong>UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/strong> and houses the <strong>Hungarian Gallery<\/strong> and other must-see museums.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<div class='code-block code-block-11' style='margin: 8px auto;
