Struck by Arice\u2019s beauty, he slipped into her room. Shocked, Arice rejected him, and he stabbed her. The original structure had three floors and long panoramic terraces overlooking two sides of the lake.<\/p>\n<p>There was an efficient thermal area, evidence of Sirmione\u2019s reputation as an outstanding spa destination already known to the Romans, as well as an underground cistern used to collect water.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today the villa is open to visitors and includes a large olive grove and a museum<\/strong>. Thanks to a restoration project, the villa\u2019s 1,500 olive trees now produce a fine-quality olive oil, <strong>while the museum preserves a series of archaeological finds<\/strong> discovered here and in the other Roman villas around Lake Garda, together with detailed documentation on the history of the lake and its peoples from Prehistory to the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n<h3>Opening hours and ticket prices for the Grottoes of Catullus<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Opening hours: <\/strong>open every day except Monday, from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm. On Sundays and public holidays, the site is open from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.<strong><br \/>\nHow to get there: <\/strong>the Grottoes of Catullus can be reached on foot along a route that starts from the historic centre, about 1 kilometre long and taking around 20 minutes. <strong>During the summer, they can also be reached by taking a paid tourist train<\/strong> from the Terme di Catullo to the entrance of the archaeological area.<br \/><strong>Full ticket price<\/strong>: \u20ac6.00; The blue-green shades and the mild water temperature invite you to take a dip, although water shoes are recommended because of the stony lakebed.<\/p>\n<p>In Tenno, do not miss the small village of <strong>Canale di Tenno<\/strong>, the perfect starting point for discovering the lake along an easy trail that takes about twenty minutes on foot.<\/p>\n<p>Canale is part of the <strong>Most Beautiful Villages in Italy<\/strong> network and has been awarded the Orange Flag by the Touring Club. Also worth seeing is the <strong>Casa degli Artisti<\/strong>, which in the 1960s became a meeting place for painters who found inspiration here.<\/p>\n<p>Another must-see in Tenno is the fortified village of <strong>Frapporta<\/strong>, with its defensive walls and houses perched on the rock overlooking the Sarca Valley, as well as the 12th-century castle, although it cannot be visited inside. It is still perfect for taking scenic photos of the walls.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Church of San Lorenzo<\/strong>, just outside the village of Frapporta, dates back to the 11th century. Built in Romanesque style, it is well preserved. It is open to visitors only during the summer months and houses a fresco depicting the martyrdom of Saint Lawrence and a painting of the Last Judgement. During the rest of the year, it is still worth walking up to photograph it from the outside and enjoy the view of Lake Garda from this vantage point.<\/p>\n<p>During the holiday season, between November and December, <strong>Christmas markets are set up in Canale di Tenno<\/strong>. The Vittoriale includes the <strong>Prioria<\/strong>, a large house-museum filled with objects, themed rooms and decorations, a vast <strong>park<\/strong> with statues, small lakes and gardens, a 200-seat <strong>auditorium<\/strong> hosting exhibitions, conferences and events, several museum spaces and an <strong>amphitheatre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the most fascinating places is the <strong>D\u2019Annunzio Segreto Museum<\/strong>, located beneath the amphitheatre. It displays objects from the Vate\u2019s daily life, including shoes, clothes and collars for his dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Among the many relics to admire, two stand out above all: <strong>the Mausoleum<\/strong> at the top of the hill, which houses his remains, and the <strong>Puglia Ship.<\/strong> This ship is now set in the park, with its bow facing the Adriatic. It was donated to D\u2019Annunzio by the Royal Italian Navy in 1923.<\/p>\n<p>The village of Gardone Riviera is also worth a visit, with its beautiful lakeside promenade and Central European atmosphere. Do not miss the <strong>Hruska Botanical Gardens<\/strong>, founded in 1903 by Arthur Hruska, an Austrian dentist and botanist.<\/p>\n<p>Over around 60 years, this passionate collector created a garden with alpine and tropical flora, including <strong>about 2,000 plants from all over the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Everything is set within a forest of streams, little bridges, ponds, waterfalls and bamboo. La pi\u00f9 famosa, oggi di propriet\u00e0 del comune, \u00e8 la\u00a0<strong>Limonaia del Castel, che risale al 1700<\/strong>\u00a0e oggi \u00e8 aperta al pubblico.<\/p>\n<p>Oltre ai celebri limoni troverete cedri, mandarini, chinotti, Kumquat. Il\u00a0<strong>centro storico<\/strong>\u00a0di Limone sul Garda \u00e8 invece una piacevole passeggiata tra vicoli, piazzette e antiche case di pescatori direttamente sul lago.<\/p>\n<p>Oggi le case sono ristrutturate e aperte ai turisti per le vacanze. The Cathedral of Sal\u00f2 is the town\u2019s most important place of worship and is dedicated to Santa Maria Annunziata. Imagine <strong>huge holes, about 5 metres wide and up to 12 metres deep<\/strong>, set into a kind of canyon in a landscape that looks almost lunar.<\/p>\n<p>In summer, the glaciers melted quickly, creating streams that rushed down into the valley and formed waterfalls of water mixed with pebbles. We recommend the one that leads to the top of the <strong>Rocca<\/strong>, about 7 km long and not too difficult, or the easier path connecting Garda to the municipality of <strong>Costermano<\/strong>, which is also suitable for children.<\/p>\n<p>Among the attractions to visit is the <strong>Lake Garda Museum<\/strong>, on Lungolago Regina Adelaide. It displays objects, tools and artefacts once used in agriculture, as well as in everyday life and traditional crafts in this part of Italy. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>As for churches, the <strong>Pieve di Garda<\/strong> is one of the oldest, dating back to the 10th century. It is located in Piazzale Roma and overlooks the lakeside.
